Generators For Home Use : Be Prepared

Generator For Home UseGenerators for home use are becoming very popular everywhere.
Currently statistics show that over 3 million in the U.S alone
suffer a power outage on a weekly basis normally due to severe
weather conditions such as storms and lighting.

That's a lot of people poking around in the dark trying to find a
flashlight or candles.

In times of power shortages or disruption of power, small portable
home generators can be used to run some selected appliances such as lights, refrigerators, furnaces, computers and some types can run your whole house.

Generators come in varying size and capacities ranging from 1 kilowatt to 100 kilowatt.
Some generators run on diesel, Gas Power, Portable Propane or Natural Gas. The least
expensive being the Portable Gas Generator.

Generators for home use are available in two types: stationery aka standby generators
and portable generators.

Portable generators are small, easily mobile, and require less initial investment.
These types of generators are typically designed to be connected only to essential
equipment or appliances. Portable generators are usually found in two fuel types,
gasoline and diesel.

Portable Generators are the most common style of generators on the market. They are
reasonable priced and can be transported anywhere, use for home, camping or even in an RV.
They can run on various fuel sources such as gas, propane and diesel. They come with a
120 volt outlets similar to the ones in your home.

Standby generators aka backup stationary generators are more expensive than their
portable counterparts, they are permanent fixtures that are designed to restore power to
a home within seconds of a power outage and they pack enough power for the entire home.

They can be wired directly into your home’s electrical circuit system. Standby generators
are installed in a permanent location and can be connected to your current Natural Gas line
or liquid propane. This eliminates the inconvenience of refueling the generators.

Standby home generators require the service of a licensed electrical contractor for
installation. The generators are connected to the home wiring system through an automatic
Transfer Switch.

Stationery generators come with an automatic power monitoring system.
While it's important for your family to have enough food on hand, safe drinking water,
having a means to live in basic comfort with a decent generator for home use is enough
to make anyone feel more safe and prepared.
